Ear muffs designed to reduce sound shouldn’t damage the ears — especially if they’re made for children.
That’s why Fort Worth, Texas-based Hearing Lab Technology/Lucid Audio recalled about 31,150 Children’s HearMuffs sound compression ear muffs.
The exact problem, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recall alert: “The AAA alkaline batteries included in the recalled HearMuffs can rupture, posing hearing, projectile and/or burn injury.”
The alert says Hearing Lab has received 19 reports of rupturing batteries, but no injuries.
This covers models LA-infant-AM-WH, LA-infant-ASM-WH, LA-infant-ASM-WHPlus, and LA-kids-AM-WH.
