Nebraska got off to the worst start possible to the second half. The Cornhuskers fumbled on their first play of the second half, and Oklahoma took it for a touchdown seven plays later — including a third-and-6 conversion from Dillon Gabriel to Jalil Farooq. Everything has gone wrong for Nebraska.

Brutal penalty
Linebacker DaShaun White, one of the best defenders for Oklahoma, has been ejected from the game for targeting. White led the Sooners with six tackles, a sack and a pass breakup early in the game, but speared Casey Thompson with the crown of his helmet. To make matters worse, Oklahoma’s defense was about to get off the field on third-and-15, but Nebraska now gets new life with 4:12 left in the second quarter.

‘Huskers get rare break

Nebraska finally got its first stop in four drives after Oklahoma kicker Zach Schmit whiffed on a 39-yard field goal. The defense stiffened on the edge of the Nebraska red zone as Ty Robinson stopped Dillon Gabriel at the line to forced fourth-and-10. Now, Nebraska desperately need to respond before halftime and get back into the game.

Oklahoma offensive coordinator Jeff Lebby is emptying the clip on his former rival. The Sooners just ran a pass-back to tight end Brayden Willis, who threw it to a wide open Marcus Major for a 24-yard touchdown. Now, the tight end Willis has more passing yards than Nebraska has rushing yards. This one might be over.

The Cornhuskers got off to a strong start on both sides of the ball, but Nebraska looks frazzled since Gabriel broke away for the 61-yard touchdown run. Since that play, Oklahoma has run 15 plays for 90 yards with two touchdowns. Conversely, Nebraska has totaled just eight yards on 13 plays and has struggled to protect Casey Thompson. Nebraska needs to answer on this drive or the game could get out of hand.
